Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has told Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to leave opposition politics and join the government, saying he should focus on serving the Kamba community in the next five years.

Sudi made the remarks on Sunday, July 5, 2026, during a church service and fundraiser at AIC Kithyoko Township in Masinga Sub-county, Machakos County.

Speaking in front of church leaders and residents, Sudi asked a bishop to pass his message directly to Kalonzo.

“Skizeni, Bishop, ambia Kalonzo amekuwa mzee, akuje kwa serikali, kwa hii miaka tano, afanyie Wakamba kazi. Amepotezea Wakamba muda kwa miaka mingi,” he said.

He urged Kalonzo not to “get lost” in opposition politics, insisting that real influence comes from being inside government.

“Mwambie Kalonzo awache pata potea. Kama ni kupangwa vile atakuwa rais, hatapangwa akiwa nje,” Sudi added.

Sudi questioned Kalonzo’s political strategy and said opposition politics had not helped the Kamba community achieve development goals. He said Kalonzo should instead seek a position in government and deliver services.

“Apange maendeleo ya Wakamba. Apewe kiti hapo. Apate share hapo, apange Wakamba,” he said.

He went further and accused Kalonzo of repeatedly keeping his supporters in opposition.

“Awache kutesa Wakamba kila mwaka, mwaka nenda mwaka rudi mko opposition, tena mwende opposition miaka ingine tano. Tena mfanyiwe karata 2032, tena mwende opposition,” Sudi said.

He also used strong language to criticise Kalonzo’s leadership approach.

“Huyo ni mtu akili iko chini,” he said.

Sudi then compared President William Ruto’s political journey to what he said Kalonzo should learn from. He said Ruto stayed in government under former President Uhuru Kenyatta, planned his political path, and eventually succeeded.

“Unaona vile William alikaa nyuma ya Uhuru, akakaa akajipanga hapo, akaingia,” Sudi said.

He added that political success requires preparation and involvement, not staying outside the system.

“Sasa wewe huyuko kwa kiwanja na watu wanacheza mpira. Alafu unasema nitaruka fence niende kwa kiwanja. Utaruka lini? Lazima ufanye mazoezi, upewe namba, ndio uambiwe cheza. Lakini wewe umekaa huko tu,” he said.

Sudi attacks Gachagua’s alliance

Sudi also criticised Kalonzo’s political alliances, including his cooperation with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“Sasa mimi niwaulize ata nyinyi, can you imagine Kalonzo, ati anatembea na yule mtu wa quarter term, yule mwendawazimu, yule mtu ni chizi. Yule Riggy G,” he said.

He questioned whether Gachagua should be trusted with national leadership roles.

“Wewe unaweza kubali ati Riggy G aogoze nchi, si hiyo ni kama kuuza nchi,” Sudi added.

He also referred to past leadership performance, saying Gachagua had failed in his previous role.

“Alishindwa kuchunga kiti ya naibu wa rais,” he said.

Sudi’s remarks come at a time of rising political tension ahead of the 2027 general election as leaders position themselves in alliances and regional blocs.

Kalonzo Musyoka has not publicly responded to Sudi’s comments. He has, however, in recent months maintained that he will remain in opposition and continue pushing for electoral reforms and accountability.

He has also previously questioned statements linked to election rigging and urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to act against leaders making such remarks.

In May 2026, Kalonzo criticised IEBC over what he called silence on comments suggesting manipulation of election results.

“Kama jamaa anaweza sema uchaguzi unaokuja hata kama kura hazitatosha tutaongeza, huyo ni mtu wa aina gani?” he said.
