LSK welcomes appointment of 15 new Court of Appeal judges
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has welcomed the appointment of 15 individuals who have been appointed by the Judicial Service Commission to serve as judges in the Court of appeal
In a congratulatory message on Thursday, January 22, 2025, the LSK President, Faith Odhiambo, has said that the law society believes that these appointments will strengthen the courts and enhance the functioning of the proceedings in court
“Congratulations to all the nominees for the position of Judge of the Court of Appeal. We believe that the Court is strengthened by their addition, and look forward to their contributions in enriching our Jurisprudence,” Faith Odhiambo wrote.

Justice Chacha Mwita and the vocal lawyer Katwa Kigen are among the 15 individuals who have made it to the nomination list of the Judicial Service Commission for appointment

In a statement that was released by the JSC, the recruitment process was a competitive one, and the subsequent action was to submit the names to President William Ruto for appointment before commencement of duty.
“The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has concluded the recruitment and selection process for the appointment of Judges of the Court of Appeal and is in the process of transmitting the names of the nominees to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya for appointment, in accordance with Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010,” JSC stated.

The Law Society of Kenya is now expected to work harmoniously with theJSC expedite cases, as the Faith has remarked with high expectations of the judges to be prudent and diligent.
