Residents and businesses across several parts of the country should prepare for temporary electricity interruptions after the national utility issued a planned maintenance notice affecting five regions on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

In a Kenya Power (KP) notice released on Monday, April 6, 2026, the scheduled outages will impact select areas in Nairobi, North Rift, Western, Coast, and Mt. Kenya regions as technicians carry out routine system upgrades and maintenance.

“Good evening, please be advised that the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, 07.04.2026. For real-time updates, outage status, rebilling requests, token-related issues, and other self-service options, kindly visit our chatbot,” KP wrote on X.

The utility firm has indicated that the interruptions are necessary to enhance service reliability and support ongoing network improvements. The notice specifies different outage windows depending on location, with most areas expected to be without power between morning and late afternoon hours.

Within the Nairobi region, the outage will affect parts of Kinanda Road and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

According to the notice, the affected locations include “Kinanda Rd, Kitsuru Rd, Ngecha Rd, Lakeview, Mitini, Ngecha Villa, ISK County Homes, Hotani Estate, Kitsuru Terraces, Kitsuru Horizons & adjacent customers.” The power interruption in this area is scheduled from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

In the North Rift region, residents in parts of Nandi County will experience a shorter outage window. The utility listed areas such as Kiborgok, Yala, Kipsonoi, and Chepkumia among those affected, noting that electricity supply will be interrupted from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Meanwhile, in the Western region, customers in parts of Kisumu County, including Onyinjo, Lunga Market, and Siala, should expect a full-day outage running from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The Coast region will also see disruptions in parts of Kilifi County, specifically in Mtwapa and Matsangoni.

Kenya Power identified key locations such as Mtwapa Sub-County Hospital, Aloo Drive, and Moorings Hotel as areas that will be affected during the scheduled maintenance period from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In the Mt. Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County, including Kigetuini and Kangure, will experience the longest outage window, beginning at 8:00 am and ending at 5:00 am.

The company emphasised that these works are part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at stabilising power supply and reducing unplanned outages in the future.

The utility also issued a customer advisory urging the public to stay informed and utilise digital support channels.

Customers are encouraged to plan, charge essential devices, and take necessary precautions to minimise disruptions during the maintenance period.
