The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a fresh disruption affecting access to the eTIMS Online Portal.

In a notice issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, KRA said its technical team was working to restore the service.

The authority did not disclose the cause of the latest disruption or indicate when the portal would be available.

“We are currently experiencing a temporary service disruption affecting access to the eTIMS Online Portal,” KRA said.

“Our technical team is working to resolve the issue. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.”

The notice only referred to the eTIMS Online Portal. KRA did not indicate whether its other electronic invoicing solutions were affected.

Second eTIMS disruption within a week

The latest disruption comes days after another outage affected taxpayers and businesses using the platform.

KRA had scheduled a 20-hour maintenance exercise for eTIMS and TIMS. The exercise was expected to run from Wednesday, July 22, at 6:00 pm to Thursday, July 23, at 2:00 pm.

However, People Daily reported on Friday, July 24, that the portal remained unavailable after the maintenance period ended.

KRA later acknowledged that the eTIMS Online Portal was unavailable because of a technical problem.

The authority subsequently announced that the service had been restored.

Monday’s notice now marks another interruption only days after that restoration.

Businesses risk invoicing delays

The eTIMS platform allows taxpayers to generate, transmit and manage electronic tax invoices.

KRA requires all people and entities engaged in business to register for eTIMS and issue electronic tax invoices. This includes companies, partnerships and sole proprietorships. (

The fresh disruption could delay businesses that rely on the online portal to issue invoices and maintain tax records.

KRA had not provided an estimated restoration time by the time of publication. The authority said further communication would be issued after its technical team resolved the problem.
