Jubilee Party is preparing for a decisive National Delegates Conference (NDC) later this month, with party leaders promising to chart a fresh political course as the country heads towards the 2027 elections.

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni met former Jubilee Members of Parliament alongside former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and other senior leaders. The consultative forum reflected on the party’s journey since leaving power and laid the ground for the NDC scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Ngong Racecourse.

Kioni described the meeting as more than just preparation. He said it was a reaffirmation of the party’s unity, renewal, and shared commitment to purposeful politics.

“Jubilee’s story is still being written, and together we move,” he said.

Uhuru to give direction

While appearing on a local radio station on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Kioni confirmed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who remains the party leader, will play a central role during the conference. He revealed that Uhuru is expected to provide Jubilee’s roadmap for 2027 and guide members on how the party should conduct itself in the coming years.

“Our party leader will be the one talking to us. He has not spoken for a long time, but now we want him to tell us what he thinks and what he intends us to do as we head to 2027,” Kioni said.

He added that Uhuru will also reaffirm that Jubilee is firmly in the opposition.

“He will also be able to reaffirm that we use jubilee leadership and every one of us is in the opposition so that people stop double-guessing us,” he explained.

Rebuilding after court battles

The NDC comes after Jubilee recently overcame a series of legal disputes over its leadership. The courts, together with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, upheld Uhuru’s position as party leader, ending months of uncertainty.

Following the ruling, Uhuru chaired the party’s first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on August 5, 2025. The meeting resolved to convene the NDC and review the party’s structure and strategy. According to the leadership, the session discussed how to reinvigorate Jubilee’s grassroots operations and strengthen its role in national politics.

Pauline Njoroge, the party’s Digital and Communication Strategist, described that NEC session as a turning point. She said it reaffirmed Jubilee’s ideals, unity, and commitment to remain a strong voice in the opposition.

Call to aspirants

Kioni has urged political aspirants to register with Jubilee as it reorganises ahead of 2027. He stressed that the party is open to all and intends to field candidates for various positions.

He also noted that Jubilee will use the NDC to assure Kenyans that the party remains functional and united.

The upcoming NDC is expected to finalise party leadership decisions and outline Jubilee’s political path. It will also mark Uhuru’s return to the centre of party politics after a long silence.
