Deputy President Kithure Kindiki led a delegation of Kenya Kwanza leaders in paying a visit to the family of Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah following the loss of his father.

The Deputy President was accompanied by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya, Farouk Kibet, nominated MP Sabina Chege, Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau, among other legislators.

They were received by the bereaved MP, who welcomed them as they signed the condolence book.

In a statement posted on his socials, Ichungwah stated.

“We remain deeply grateful to our friends and colleagues for standing with us and condoling with our family during this time.” Ichungwah said

The news of the demise of Kimani Ichung’wah’s father, Isaac Ichung’wa Ngugi, was announced by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Thursday, September 4, 2025, in a statement shared via his official social media accounts.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the Kikuyu MP and Leader of Majority, Hon. @KIMANIICHUNGWAH, following the passing of their patriarch, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa Ngugi,” Wetang’ula stated.

According to Wetang’ula, Mzee Ngugi passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Kikuyu home, having lived a remarkable 105 years.

“Mzee Ngugi, who passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Kikuyu home, lived a remarkable 105 years. As we celebrate a life well lived, we pray that his lasting impact will continue to be felt and his legacy cherished for generations to come. May the fond memories of his century-long journey bring comfort to his family during this time of grief. Rest in peace, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa Ngugi,” Wetang’ula wrote on X.

His uncle’s demise

It has being a double tragedy for the MP since this comes a day after he buried his uncle, who was his father’s younger sibling in Nakuru who died 2 days after his father breathed his last

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika was among the leaders who accompanied Ichungwah at the burial. While eulogising Mzee Ikinu, she described him as a devoted family man, an astute businessman, and a God-fearing individual who served the PCEA Church faithfully.
