Kindiki lauds 15 judges and advocates nominated to serve in the Court of Appeal
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, January 23, 2026Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is the latest among leaders to pass a message of congratulations to the 15 judges and advocates nominated by the Judicial Service Commission to serve as judges in the Court of Appeal.
In a message on his X account on Friday, 23, 2026, Kithure has expressed his message of goodwill to the judges, reminding them of the huge role that has been bestowed on them in the belief that they are up to the task and will serve the country in their capacity.
“Congratulations to the 15 judges and advocates who have been nominated by the Judicial Service Commission for appointment as Judges of the Court of Appeal of Kenya. The office of Judge is a most esteemed position for any lawyer, bestowing huge power and influence, but at the same time imposing great, if not grave, responsibilities,” Kindiki stated.

Vocal lawyer Katwa Kigen and Justice Chacha Mwita topped the list of the 15 individuals who have made it to the nomination list of the Judicial Service Commission for appointment.
Others are High Court Judge Chacha Mwita, Lady Justice Hedwig Imbosa Ong’udi, Justice Mathews Nduma Nderi, Lady Justice Linnet Mumo Ndolo, Lady Justice Lucy Mwihaki Njuguna, Justice Samson Odhiambo Okongo and Lady Justice Rachel Chepkoech Ngetich.
The JSC, while releasing the names, acknowledged the thorough process of recruiting the judges, saying that the subsequent action was to submit the names to President William Ruto for appointment before commencement of duty.
“The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has concluded the recruitment and selection process for the appointment of Judges of the Court of Appeal and is in the process of transmitting the names of the nominees to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya for appointment, in accordance with Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010,” JSC stated.

The increase in judges is expected to reduce the backlog as well as to reduce the timelines used. The 15 judges have increased the number of judges in the appeal court to 42.
