Kimani Ngunjiri urges Murkomen to act swiftly as tensions rise in Angata Barikoi
Former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has called on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to intervene and expedite the restoration of peace in Angata Barkoi in Transmara, as deadly clashes continue to dominate the headlines in Narok.
Speaking on his social media pages on Monday, December 22, 2025, Ngunjiri expressed his disappointment over the ongoing violence in Barkoi, where several people have lost their lives. He described the escalating tensions in Angata Barkoi as perennial.
He faulted the state for remaining silent while blood continues to be shed, particularly in an area where such incidents have been recurring. According to him, the government has not found an effective solution to address the recurrent tensions.
Ngunjiri urged the Interior Cabinet Secretary to act, citing Murkomen’s past successes in other regions facing similar challenges and calling on him to replicate the same approach in Angata Barkoi.
“Murkomen, you must wake up. You did very well in many places, but now you must wake up. Usiende chini, we are hoping to see you in action again.”
He also expressed disappointment at the state’s inability to manage clashes even in two constituencies, questioning how it would handle a larger geographical area if similar conflicts arose.
“Kama hizi constituencies mbili zinaishia kushindwa kudhibitiwa, mimi nauliza, tukipata shida kubwa, how will it be controlled?”
Murkomen’s declaration
This comes after Murkomen declared parts of Narok County as security disturbed and dangerous, imposing a 30-day security alert in affected areas.

In a special Kenya Gazette notice dated December 19, 2025, CS Murkomen invoked section 106 (1) of the National Police Service Act, 2011, following consultations with the National Security Council to make the declaration.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 106 (1) of the National Police Service Act, 2011, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, in consultation with the National Security Council, made a declaration on 19th December, 2025, declaring parts of Narok County as security disturbed and dangerous,” the gazette notice stated.

Affected areas
The declaration covers multiple locations across two sub-counties in Narok County, with the gazette notice listing specific areas deemed security disturbed and dangerous.
