A day after his grilling by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kiambu County deputy speaker John Njiru now says his accusers were on a malicious mission of getting him in trouble.

Njiru who was grilled for over six hours by EACC sleuths in Nairobi is accused of demanding a bribe of Sh130,000 and a free portion of land from a private developer at his Hospital Ward in Thika Town.

The money he allegedly sought was to ‘facilitate’ and have the complainant permitted to proceed with any development on her property valued at Sh15 million.

The complainant purportedly wanted Njiru to consent to the establishment of a pub in his Hospital Ward near a nursery school.

But Njiru says his accusers had approached him requesting to be assisted to put up the business but after he declined, the complainant, a woman, rushed to EACC saying he had been extorting money from her.
