Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has decried the withdrawal of his security details as political tensions rise in the devolved unit ahead of the scheduled by-election in Malava Constituency on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Taking to his social media pages on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the vocal legislator said his security details were withdrawn without explanation.

”My security details have been pulled without any warning or explanation,” Khalwale decried.

”Our supporters and people of goodwill, having run a fairly good & effective campaign, we are pleased to roll out our watertight strategy for election day. With the whole of our minds and hearts, we are defending the dignity of our people and will confront any attempts to subvert their choice,” Khalwale added.

At the same time, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has raised concerns after his entire security detail was withdrawn in the early hours of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, leaving him without protection. Natembeya confirmed that all six elite officers, including his driver, were recalled and instructed to report to the nearest police station.

“I received reports from my officers that they had been instructed to go to the nearest camp. Those from the GSU are to report to the nearest camp. My driver was asked to report to the nearest police station. Now, I don’t have any security officers with me or at my residences,” Natembeya said in an interview.

Both Natembeya and Khalwale have been camping in Malava, drumming up support for the Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) candidate, Seth Panyako, for the forthcoming Member of Parliament mini polls in Malava over the United Democratic Alliance aspirant, David Ndakwa, as Panyako’s closest challenger.

Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order as the country prepares for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025, in different parts of the country earmarked for the democratic exercise.

By-elections preparedness

In an official press release signed by the NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the Service emphasised its constitutional mandate to protect life and property, prevent and detect crime, and uphold public safety while strictly observing the rule of law and respecting human rights.

”In the upcoming by-elections on November 27th, 2025, the NPS reiterates its unwavering commitment to executing its duties impartially, professionally and in strict adherence to the Constitution, in order to facilitate a peaceful, free, fair and credible electoral process,” the NPS statement said in part.
