The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has taken the step to assure its employees countrywide that it is taking immediate action to reinstate medical cover services after a recent disruption that hit employees and their dependents.

In a statement on their X handle on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the Kenya Forest Service has confirmed that the Chief Conservator of Forests, Alex Lemarkoko, has affirmed that the service is striving to make sure that normal medical insurance services are reinstated within the shortest time possible. He underscored that the well-being of employees is one of the priorities of the institution.

“Staff are reassured of medical cover services. Kenya Forest Service Chief Conservator of Forests Alex Lemarkoko has reassured all staff countrywide that measures have been put in place to reinstate medical cover services to all staff and their dependants in the shortest time possible. The Service regrets all inconveniences caused to its staff and dependants following the recent disruption of medical cover services,” the KFS statement read.

KFS further confirmed that Lemarkoko recognised the inconvenience and difficulty associated with the interruption and said that KFS is dedicated to fixing it as quickly and effectively as possible. He assured the employees that they had already initiated the necessary interventions to rectify the situation and prevent further disturbances.

KFS commits to look into staff’s welfare

He said that the service was sorry to inconvenience our staff and other dependants and that action has been taken to restore medical cover services as soon as possible.

The interruption had elicited fears among employees who depend on the medical cover to receive the much-needed health care. The most recent promise made by the KFS leadership is, however, likely to reduce anxiety as more push is made to re-establish full coverage.

KFS reaffirmed its obligation to protect the welfare of its employees and ensure continuous access to essential services, such as healthcare, as part of its overall responsibility to take care of its employees.
