Kenya Power has announced safety guidelines to be followed amid the ongoing deadly floods witnessed in various parts of the country.

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the utility company warned that due to the ongoing heavy rains, power lines are likely to fall into areas accumulated by water, which poses a safety risk.

The company, while urging Kenyans to remain alert, has further warned of temporary outages linked to the heavy downpour.

“As the rainy season continues, we remain on high alert. Ongoing heavy rains and flooding may cause power lines to fall into areas with accumulated water, posing a serious safety risk and potentially leading to temporary outages,” Kenya Power said.

At the same time, Kenya Power has urged Kenyans to report any cases of fallen power lines, while assuring them of an immediate emergency response to secure the area and restore power.

On the other hand, Kenyans are advised to keep a distance if they spot any fallen power lines or any electrical hazard in flooded or waterlogged areas.

“When this happens, our emergency teams move quickly to secure the area and restore power as soon as it is safe to do so. If you spot a fallen power line or any electrical hazard in flooded or waterlogged areas, please keep a safe distance and report it immediately,” Kenya Power added.
