Kenya Police FC are gearing up for the new season in August by bolstering their technical bench with the addition of Salim Babu and Nowel Mandi.

Babu who terminated his deal with Nzoia Sugar seven days ago takes the role of an assistant coach while Mandi links up with the law enforcers as a team doctor.

The club made the announcement on Thursday, acknowledging Babu’s role in improving the bench while Mandi replaces Wycliffe Omom, who moved to Tanzania Premier League giants Simba SC.

“The Best joins the Best and the Best replaces the Best. Salim Babu joins his old friend and Coach, Teacher Francis Baraza as his Assistant Coach while Nowel Mandi replaces Wycliffe Omom as Team Doctor. Wycliffe joined Tanzania giants Simba as Team Doctor earlier this month,” the club said in their statement.

“Welcome home Coach Salim Babu and Doc Nowel Mandi, the club added.

Babu recently parted ways with Nzoia Sugar, a side he joined in March 2022 during a challenging period for the club both on and off the field.

However, he turned the team’s fortunes around, leading them to a 14th-place finish in the league with side avoiding relegation.

Babu’s run before Kenya Police

He then had a successful stint, leading the team to a commendable fourth-place finish in the just-concluded season. Under his guidance, Nzoia Sugar emerged as a title contender, achieving 18 wins, 10 draws, and six losses.

Kenya Police FC, on the other hand, finished third in the league standings, just six points behind the champions, Gor Mahia.

They showcased an impressive performance, recording 18 wins, 10 draws, and six losses. Notably, they were the top-scoring team in the league with 55 goals and had a solid defence, conceding the fewest goals with only 22 against them.

With the addition of Babu and Mandi, Kenya Police FC is aiming to strengthen their squad and build on their achievements in the upcoming season.

Kenya Police FC and their fans are filled with anticipation and optimism. The club’s impressive performance in the last campaign, finishing in third place with 64 points and boasting the league’s best offensive and defensive records, has raised expectations for the upcoming challenges.
