KDF officer arrested after attempting to detonate smoke grenade at ex-wife’s home
The military police are holding a Kenya Defence Forces(KDF) officer who attempted to detonate a smoke grenade at his ex-wife’s home.
Denis Ochieng, a sergeant based at Mandera threw the grenade into the compound of his ex-wife’s parents after a brief altercation on the custody of their children.
According to a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI), Ochieng was told to wait for his ex-wife’s parents to arrive so that they could discuss about the children.

Agitated, the sergeant took a grenade from his military jacket and threw it on the compound before speeding off.
After the device failed to explode, he turned back to collect it, and threw it into a nearby river afterwards.
Military police and detectives from Butula helped to apprehend the suspect. The search for the grenade was on-going at the time of releasing the statement.
