KDF delivers emergency water to Wajir amid severe scarcity
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel in Wajir South Sub-County have stepped in to assist residents facing a severe water shortage in Hubsoy location.
In a statement shared on X on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, KDF says the move follows an urgent report of a critical water crisis affecting the local community.

“KDF received an urgent call from Mohamed, the Hubsoy Area Chief, reporting a life-threatening shortage of water affecting the local community. In response, KDF immediately planned and organised a humanitarian patrol to support the affected,” KDF said in a statement.
During the operation, KDF troops delivered essential water supplies to families struggling with acute scarcity.
“The KDF personnel successfully delivered water to the local population, providing much-needed relief to families who had been facing acute water scarcity, and the residents of Hubsoy expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to the KDF team for their swift response and humanitarian support,” the statement added.

KDF officers confirmed that the shortage poses a serious and ongoing threat to the local population. They emphasised the need for continuous support and long-term interventions to address the water crisis sustainably.
“During the operation, the soldiers assessed the situation and confirmed that the area is experiencing a serious and life-threatening water crisis, underscoring the urgent need for sustained humanitarian intervention and long-term water solutions,” Part of the KDF statement reads.

The operation is part of the Kenya Defence Forces’ Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) efforts, which complement their core security duties by addressing the welfare and protection of communities in need. KDF reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and promoting human security across Kenya.
“The CIMIC is part of the Kenya Defence Forces’ continued commitment to protecting lives, supporting communities, and promoting human security, in addition to their core security mandate,” part of the KDF statement reads.
