Kaluma: Broad-based govt will win all November by-election seats
Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has argued that the broad-based government comprising the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) parties will win all the Thursday, November 27, by-election seats.
Taking to his social media pages on Saturday, November 1, 2025, Kaluma added that the ODM leader, Raila Odinga, did not just leave his party in the broad-based government formation but also left behind a party political will that will be followed strictly.
Raila’s political will
”Some lazy politicians wrongly believe Baba Raila Odinga rested before giving the ODM party and his supporters political directions for the future! Please don’t lie to yourself. Baba didn’t just leave us in the Broad-Based Government, but he also left a political will to be followed and implemented by his people to the letter. For the start, the Broad-Based Government will win all the byelection seats come November,” Kaluma noted.

Kaluma’s statement comes shortly after UDA confirmed the election of its two members in the forthcoming by-election.
“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially declared a no contest for Members of the County Assembly for Tembelio and Metkei Wards in the upcoming by-elections scheduled for 27th November 2025. UDA party candidates, Reuben Kigen Tobosei (Tembelio Ward, Uasin Gishu County) and Philip Kipkosgei Kiprutto (Metkei Ward, Elgeyo Marakwet County), have been duly elected unopposed,” UDA said in a statement on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
UDA-ODM marriage
At the same time, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has also endorsed the ODM aspirant Boyd Were to take over the Kasipul parliamentary seat ahead of the upcoming November 27 elections.

Speaking during an empowerment drive in Kasipul, Homa Bay County, on Friday, October 31, 2025, the DP stated that his endorsement was in the spirit of the broad-based arrangement signed by President William Ruto and the late ODM leader, Raila Odinga.
“We decided that as the UDA, we will support the ODM’s candidate in Kasipul. ODM’s candidate here is Kasipul, who is our candidate too, and he is this young man, Boyd Were. He is the candidate of the broad-based government. Let no one come here and lie to you that they are in the broad-based,” he stated.
The DP affirmed that the UDA will also support ODM candidates in Ugunja and Magarini as ODM returns the favours in Malava and Banisa Constituencies.
