Kalonzo reveals Gachagua’s interest in visiting Raila’s Opoda Farm in future
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stated that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua would like to visit Opoda Farm in the coming days.
While speaking during his visit to pay tribute to his former political ally, Raila Odinga at Kango ka Jaramogi on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Kalonzo revealed that the former DP has expressed his willingness to visit Raila’s family and will do so in the near future.

Kalonzo went on to defend the former Deputy President, saying that he should not be associated with the sentiments made by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who appeared to be celebrating Raila Odinga’s death.

The remarks had sparked uproar from Nyanza leaders, and because the governor is aligned with Gachagua, it was interpreted as also being Gachagua’s stance. Kalonzo strongly dismissed this, saying that Mutahi Kahiga was speaking for himself and that Gachagua should not be linked to Kahiga’s sentiments.
“I know that the Gikuyu nation, for example, will come. My brother Rigathi would want to come. (And those who spoke badly spoke for themselves,“ Kalonzo said.
Paying tribute to Raila
Kalonzo Musyoka continued to eulogise Raila, who was buried a few weeks ago, reminiscing about the good times they shared.
He recalled how they faced challenges together during protests, including an incident that almost claimed Raila’s life.
He stated that Raila would have died and been buried in 2023 during the Azimio la Umoja protests, where his car was hit by 10 bullets. According to Kalonzo, Raila’s life was saved only because his vehicle was armoured.
During his visit, Kalonzo caused a stir at Opoda Farm after a multitude of his supporters escorted him to pay tribute to the family. The crowd became so large and uncontrollable that Raila Odinga’s widow was forced to intervene, though still unsuccessfully.
Kalonzo, like other leaders from various regions who have visited the family post-burial, made his way with a herd of cattle, accompanied by elders and top leaders from the Ukambani region, led by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, her Makueni counterpart Mutula Kilonzo Junior, and other MPs allied to the Wiper Party.
Two of Gachagua’s allies, advocate Ndegwa Njiru and Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, were also present.
