Her death
Kega confirmed the death of his mother on Friday, May 8, 2026, without divulging many details.
“I am devastated and heartbroken! It is well with my soul, however it is difficult to believe that my mother has rested. It’s painful,” Kega stated.
In a statement on Friday, May 8, 2026, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that Kega received the news after landing in the United Kingdom, where he went ahead of Gachagua’s visit.
“It is with profound sadness I have learnt the passing on of Mama Ann Nyatoro Ndung’u mother of EALA MP Hon. Kanini Kega early today,” Gachagua stated.
“It is only yesterday that I gave you an assignment to the United Kingdom as my younger brother only for you to arrive and receive the sad news. Please receive my heartfelt and sincere condolences at this difficult moment. To the larger family of Simon Ndung’u Mutitu, your friends and relatives, I pray for you during this difficult moment.”
Gachagua termed Ann Nyatoro a family matriarch who worked hard to educate her children, and her kindness is the talk of her village.
“The loss of a mother is painful; may God grant you and your family strength to bear the loss. My condolences also go to members of the Woman’s Guild of PCEA Mwiyogo parish where she served as a dedicated member and took active role in the development of the parish,” he said.
“As the family prepares to give her a befitting send off my family, we will continue to pray for them. May the soul of Mama Ann rest in eternal peace and perpetual light shine upon her forever.”
