Kalonzo: Kenya Kwanza govt marred with brutality
By Nancy Marende, June 25, 2025Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stated that President William Ruto’s administration has been marred by police brutality.
Speaking after arriving with wreaths at Holy Family Basilica in commemoration of the victims of the June 25, 2024, anti-government protests on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Musyoka condemned the infiltration of goons in the protests.
“Brutality has been the order of the day in this Kenya Kwanza administration. Today, we just want to remember these young people; we need to call out these goons,” he stated.
He has also criticised the government for failing to compensate the families of the victims even as the country marks one year since their demise.

He stated that this failure by the government necessitated the formation of the People’s Restorative Justice Commission, which was launched on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to address historical injustices and state-sponsored abuses.
“No single penny has been paid to the families as compensation; that’s why we have set up a justice commission,” he added.
Murkomen’s stance
This comes a day after the Ministry of Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen announced that the government is ready to meet the families of the victims of the 2024 anti-government protests ahead of its anniversary on June 25, 2025.
Speaking during a breakfast with the FKF Premier League champions held at State House on June 24, 2025, Murkomen stated that the government wants to engage in a conversation with families to understand how to support them.

“As a ministry, we are ready to meet the families of those who, unfortunately, lost their children as a result of these political acts. It doesn’t matter what happened; from a human perspective, we are ready to meet their families, have a conversation with them, and see what else we can do to support them,” he said.
“Our doors are open, and I am sure even President William Ruto’s doors are open to meet these families. We want to ask those political scavengers to keep off and allow those families to visit us and have a conversation with them and see how best we can help them,” he added.
