Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called on Kenyans to unite in confronting the pain and fear faced by women affected by gender-based violence, saying the country can no longer ignore the suffering that many women endure in silence.

His remarks come as the world marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a day set aside to highlight injustices that continue to harm women and girls in homes, workplaces, and communities.

Speaking through an X post posted on Tuesday, November 25, 2027, Kalonzo emphasised that countless women carry deep wounds that few ever see or acknowledge.

“Today, we raise our voices for every woman whose pain has been carried most often alone and in silence,” he stated. According to Kalonzo, the violence many women face is more than physical harm; it is a darkness that crushes confidence, destroys hope, and steals futures. “Violence against women is a darkness that steals too many dreams, too many lives, and too much hope,” he stated.

Choose compassion

Kalonzo urged the country to take responsibility by choosing compassion, solidarity, and protection for survivors. He said action cannot be left to leaders alone and must begin with individuals, families, and communities committing to stand with victims. He called on the public to be more intentional.

“Let us choose to protect, to speak, and to stand with every survivor so that no woman has to be brave just to stay alive,” he wrote

Kalozo Musyoka further stressed that Kenya must work toward a future where women and girls are no longer afraid and where daughters grow up knowing their worth.

He added that the country must create safe spaces for every girl and ensure that dignity, freedom, and opportunity are not privileges but rights.

“The vision is for ‘every daughter to grow up knowing she is safe, valued, and free,” he concluded.
