Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stated that people in Luo still have lingering questions about the circumstances around the death of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Sunday, November 24, 2025, Kalonzo alluded to the former Azimio flagbearer’s death on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, while revealing that he was ready to make a new political formation following the death of his longtime political ally and friend.

“Tulikuwa na Raila kwa Azimio. Sasa amelala na hakuna mtu anajua kama Azimio bado iko na ule mwelekeo wa kuhakikisha kama ndoto yake ya urais itawezekana,” Kalonzo said.

“Ndugu zetu kule Ujaluoni wanauliza maswali mengi zaidi. Ni kitu gani kilimkumba Baba. Hiyo maswali siwezi hata nikajaribu kuyajibu.”

The United Opposition leader similarly affirmed that he was now looking to move on, signalling his official exit from the coalition.

He spoke on formalising a new deal with the former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.

“The time is now to have a new political formation ahead of the 2027 elections, as we have to get Ruto out of power. We are now in a new arrangement with Gachagua with his party,” he asserted.

Kalonzo said the collaborative pact among the parties allied to the United Opposition was geared towards cementing the newfound unity.

“We have done our research, and as the Wiper, we withdrew our candidate for Kenga to lead in Magarini. In Mbeere, we agreed to have Newton Karish as our candidate. We have also settled on a single candidate in other regions across the country. This is our new formation,” he stated.

Kalonzo’s assertions come days after he described himself as the fitting politician to carry on Raila’s political legacy and fulfill his Canaan dream.

The politician spoke during a campaign rally in Siaya County on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

“You people are at the forefront of defending our democracy, na kwa sababu baba amelala. Mimi ndio Baba mdogo. Watoto walikuwa wanalia, Baba, msilie tena. Nitawashikilia, Ruto hatawaua na Kanaani tunaenda,” he stated.

Kalonzo reminisced about his struggles with Baba, detailing the fight and sacrifices he made for Raila, including shelving his ambition for the DP position after Raila proposed Martha Karua as his running mate for the 2022 elections.

Continuing Raila’s legacy

He urged the region to refuse overtures from people he claimed were masquerading as Raila’s friends but were keen on disrupting the unity of the people from the region.

“Now Baba has slept. I want us to remain united in his honour. Let us not allow people who claim to be his friends to disrupt the unity of the people in Luo Nyanza,” he added.
