Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday, March 9, 2025 lamented over the spate of betrayal in the country.

Speaking at Christian Foundation Fellowship Church, Nairobi, Kalonzo noted that a wave of betrayal was hovering in the country, ranging from family lines up to the national level.

The Wiper Party leader told congregants that the country had in recent times witnessed incidences of brothers becoming treacherous and even political leaders stabbing others in the back.

While calling for prayers, he indicated that betrayal among the political class was rampant, which he claimed was shaking the pillars of the society.

He pleaded with the church leaders to pray for all the leaders in a bid to restore the lost sanity.

“There is betrayal all over, brother betraying brother, but very interesting betrayal is that of politicians,” Kalonzo stated without mentioning political leaders fond of that behaviour.

“Please pray for them, and I am one of them. I don’t like the word politician, I would rather be a leader, but this lot in politics, I think we should all be gotten hold of, taken to Uhuru Park and repent together with the nation,” Kalonzo added.

Terming Raila-Ruto pact betrayal

His reaction came days after Raila Odinga’s ODM and President William Ruto’s UDA formalised their cooperation framework.

While trashing the framework, Kalonzo blasted Raila, accusing him of betraying the cause of the Kenyan people who died in 2023 and 2024 as they protested the high cost of living, punitive taxes, and governance problems.

“If there is no formula at KICC today showing how Kenyans are going to compensate their families and the loss of lives because of police brutality, then nothing will come out of KICC other than betrayal of the Kenyan people,” Kalonzo stated.

Kalonzo’s sentiments were backed by DAP-Kenya party leader Eugene Wamalwa, who criticised Odinga for allegedly quitting his opposition role to dine with the current regime, adding that history would judge him harshly.

“To those who left their opposition role to join President Ruto’s government, history is a harsh judge; may it judge them. We have chosen to side with the Gen Zs, and we have done so with a clear mind,” Wamalwa said.

In 2022, Kalonzo shelved his presidential ambition to support Raila who was floored by President William Ruto. After Raila expressed interest in the AUC seat, Kalonzo and his allies rallied on Raila to throw his weight behind him to lead Azimio la Umoja.

However, Raila remained silent but upon his return after failing to win the AUC seat, he embraced Ruto, signaling a newly found relationship.
