Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly condemned officers who shot at peaceful protesters during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 and anti-government protests.

Speaking on Saturday, July 27, 2024, Kalonzo expressed disappointment in the police for using excessive force when quelling protests in the country, he pointed out that it is shameful and disrespectful that the officers shot at individuals carrying the national flag, a very significant symbol in the country.

The Wiper leader underscored that shooting at people carrying the flag is blatant disrespect to the freedom fighters who secured the country’s independence.

Bendera ya Kenya kupiga risasi ni kutoheshimu wale walipigania uhuru wetu wakafa, kama vile mzee Dedan Kimathi na wengine walipigania Kenya Huezi ukampiga risasi mtoto ambaye amebeba bendera ya Kenya,” he said.

Additionally, Kalonzo called for the arrest of the officers involved in the violent attacks against Kenyans saying justice must prevail. He also noted that infiltrators who took advantage of the protests to loot and destroy property must be brought to book.

“All those involved in killing young Kenyans and looting people’s businesses must be brought to book. We must see arrests moving forward.”

According to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), 60 people have lost their lives since the onset of the protests driven by the youth.

According to the data released on Thursday, July 25, 2024, 66 other Kenyans are still missing, the commission observed that the recent number has risen from the previous 59.
