Jamhuri Showground will host this  weekend’s Kenya Cup highlight clash pitting leaders Kabras and third-placed Homeboyz as defending champions KCB host Impala in another thriller at Ruaraka.

Kabras head coach Henley Du Plessis maintained his 23-man squad that tamed Western Bulls 47-0 last weekend while Homeboyz has recalled Leonard Mugaisi who participated in last weekend’s invitational Dubai Sevens and blind side winger Zedden Marrow.

Kabras is the only unbeaten team in the ongoing league and the Deejays will be determined to crack that record with a home match.

“We know the stakes in the match and we are ready for the match. Kabras is going to be a good opponent, we expect a physical and more clinical game than the other rounds but of course our target is to win by maximum points,” Homeboyz coach Simon Odongo told Wikendi Sports.

The sugar millers will, however, be without an integral player and captain Max Adaka, who has recuperated from a knock but will be made available in select matches.

Meanwhile, fourth-placed Impala Saracens will hope to condemn the bankers at KCB Sports Club in another highlight clash that could reward the Sarries with a new log position should one immediate rival above them fall Saturday.

The defending champs head coach Curtis Olago has given his skippers Curtis Lilako and full back Darwin Mukidza crucial starts in that match and a strong bench that will be part of the finishing game plan when prop Moses Amusala, Samuel Asati, Francis Mwita and Shaban Ahmed step in the pitch.

Away from Nairobi, Nakuru will host its first double header at the Nakuru Athletic Club where Oilers and Kisumu will play first match at 1pm followed by main match pitting Nakuru and Blak Blad at 3pm.

Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru has made three changes that will see their talisman and winger Derrick Keyoga get his first start in place of Derrick Mbaire while Belda Ogeta also returns to take up the other wing position while Moses Arara takes up midfield position.

Nakuru is coming off a bitter 30-22 loss to Nondies and will be keen to secure a home win against struggling Blak Blad with six changes by coach Felix Oloo.  

Stanbic Mwamba will be at the Bull Ring in Kakamega in search of crucial points against hosting Western Bulls. Bulls lost 47-0 to Kabras last weekend while Mwamba lost 15-29 to KCB to make this meeting a good clash to return to winning ways for either side.

Nondescripts and Harlequins will wrap up round eighth with a derby that hosting Harlequin will need to win to write off last weekend’s 26-19 defeat to Impala Saracens in a Ngong Road derby played at Impala club.                                            -Alex njue
