Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has humorously thanked God for not granting her earlier prayer to secure a job in President William Ruto’s administration.

In a light-hearted but pointed morning reflection shared on social media on Sunday, December 7, 2025, Wamae said she once made a solemn prayer asking for an opportunity to serve in Ruto’s government, a prayer she now believes would have placed her in the direct line of public frustration, given the current national mood.

She, however, noted that she was later offered a job in the government, but she rejected it, saving herself from being a punching bag for Kenyans.

“Let me try to be a ‘preacher’ this morning. It is said when we pray, God often responds with “yes”, “no”, or “wait”… Thank God Mungu alisema BIG NO to this prayer bure, mungekuwa munanitusi like lack of importance. Ingawaje pia mimi Ile ingine nilikataa, Yes Kidole Sambusa! Good morning?” she stated.

Wamae’s prayer for job in Ruto’s govt

In 2022, Wamae publicly took to social media, seeking a job opportunity in the then President-elect William Ruto’s government.

Wamae begged Ruto for a job while congratulating him following the Supreme Court’s verdict to uphold his win as declared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on August 15, 2022.

“Justina Wamae is humbled, thank you, Mr President @WilliamsRuto & @rigathi. The bible says, Speak the truth, my truth is naomba kazi. Am ready to serve @SingoeiAKorir,” Justina Wamae tweeted.

Wamae’s fallout with Wajackoyah

It was not the first time she had been begging for a job in Ruto’s administration.

Days after IEBC declared Ruto as the president-elect, Wamae expressed her interest in serving as a minister in the Kenya Kwanza administration ahead of the Supreme Court’s verdict.

Wamae would then fall out with her then party leader, George Wajackoyah, shortly after pleading for a job in Ruto’s administration, with the Roots Party stripping her of powers to run its affairs and appointing Yagnik Vinod Ramji as the party’s deputy in an acting capacity.
