Former Kiambu Woman Representative Annah Nyokabi Gatheca will now deputise Kiambu governor hopeful Patrick Wainaina alias Jungle, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Thika Town Constituency.

According to Wainaina, Gatheca, a career political scientist and a corporate banker brings synergy to his camp owing to her wealth of experience in leadership and administration.

While unveiling her, Jungle stated that the time for woman leadership and further empowerment is ripe insisting that their merger will transform Kiambu County.

“It has been a journey that saw us deliberate on this until late in the evening. She has come from a background of leadership and is a career woman having studied and served in various administrative positions. We have agreed to economically empower our people at various levels to change the situation of our Kiambu people,” Jungle said.

In his speech, the aspiring governor who will be battling it out against incumbent governor James Nyoro, Senator Kimani Wamatangi, former governor William Kabogo and female candidates Juliet Kimemia and Mwende Gatabaki vowed to end joblessness in Kiambu by transforming the vast County.

“We are bringing change and the change will be positive. Women have something to smile about today having garnered majority deputy positions including Martha Karua who was picked to deputise Raila Odinga and who we continue to congratulate,” Jungle added.

On her part, Nyokabo who is also a cousin to President Uhuru Kenyatta lauded Jungle for picking her saying that his development track record is unmatched having run Thika with zero corruption cases.

“He is a God-fearing man who has served Thika with diligence and whose vision marries with mine. The two of us have the vision to improve the education, health and other economic activities of our people.

“It is time to serve and the two of us will definitely bring the change that the Kiambu people so much desire.

“The two of us agreed to join hands and work towards redeeming Kiambu from the yokes of corruption, mistrust and laxity in implementing development projects,” she added.
