Here is what you need to know to keep up to speed with today’s happenings.

Reactions to Sudi’s poll comments

Politicians, especially from the opposition, are expected to react to Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi’s comments on plans to top up William Ruto’s votes in the 2027 elections.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, Sudi stated that Ruto is unlikely to serve for one term, and if the votes will not be enough, they will be topped up.

Hii kazi tunafanya ni ya kuomba kura. Ndio tunaendelea kuomba kura,” Sudi said.

Kura lazima ijae, isipojaa tunajaza na watu. Si nyinyi mtajaza Kura ama kazi yenu ni nini?”

Translating to: “We will traverse this country, go to Ukambani and other places, searching for the votes. If it does not add up, we continue soliciting for more until it adds up.”

“We are in the business of campaigning, and we will add it up with votes, which we are soliciting from the people.”

His comments are expected to draw reaction, especially from the opposition, who have always stated they are keen on beating Ruto in the next election.

Planned June 25th protest

The Kenyan online community is expected to continue planning for their June 25, 2025, protests.

The protest has been designed to coincide with the 2024 protests against the Finance Bill, which later turned chaotic, with some losing their lives.

The planners observe that this year’s protest will serve as an anniversary to remember those who died as well as an avenue to air their frustrations against the government.

This year’s protests are being planned at a time when the country is mourning the death of Albert Ojwang, who died in police custody.

His death led to public outcry, and eventually, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Eliud Lagat, the complainant against Ojwang, stepped aside to allow an investigation into the matter.

The shooting of Boniface Kariouki, a mask vendor, during the recent demonstrations has also fuelled the public rage.
