The sittings come after the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning chaired by Molo MP Kuria Kimani concluded vetting the nominees on Monday paving the way for the tabling of the report.

The committee is expected to table its report on Thursday morning ahead of debate in the afternoon.

During the vetting session, the nominees were told to explain the expertise that they will be bringing to the institution should their nominations be approved by the National Assembly.

On Monday, Kuria reminded the committee members of the strict timelines that they have to vet and write their report.

“Members remember we only have today (Monday) to vet the nominees.  The special sitting is on Thursday and we must conclude business,” he said.

If approved by the National Assembly for formal appointment by the president, the commission chairperson and members will serve a term of six years and shall not be eligible for re-appointment.

CRA main function is to recommend the basis of equitable sharing of revenue raised by the national government between national and county governments taking into consideration that 15 percent of the revenue disbursed must be disbursed to counties.

The sharing of revenue between the two levels of government is based on the most recent audited accounts of the National Government as approved by the National Assembly.

The National Assembly, which went on its long recess on Thursday, has been called for a special sitting to pass the said nominees.
