Ida Odinga, the spouse of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has vowed to help Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya find a wife.

Peter Salasya, on Friday, November 7, 2025, during his visit to Opoda Farm, pleaded with Ida Odinga to help him find a wife who is as good and beautiful as her, vowing to make more visits and consultations with her to help him find the best wife.

Nakuomba wewe mimi kama kijana mdogo wakati nataka kuoa bibi, nipate bibi kama wewe. There are a lot of things that I wanted to share; nitakuja nikae na wewe pekee yetu kwa sababu kuna mambo mengi sana,” Salasya said.

In response, during her speech at the same function, she took up the task and assured Peter Salasya that she would help him find a wife among what she referred to as the “Daughters of Raila”, a group of women from Suba West who had come, led by their MP, to pay tribute to the departed leader Raila Odinga.

She went ahead to state that she did not take the request for granted and would make sure to help him select from among the daughters of Raila, whom she believes are suitable for Peter Salasya.

Ile ombi yako nimesikia. Amesema anataka msichana kutoka hapa nimchagulie. Hiyo siwezi kuchukua for granted. “Daughters of Raila, nitachunguza sawasawa,” she said.

This was met with applause and cheers from the daughters of Raila, who were seated in the tent following the proceedings.

Salasya’s other pleas to Ida

Salasya also praised Ida for her strength during the funeral of the late former prime minister, asking her to continue with the same spirit and to keep the country in her prayers.

He went on to say that he was planning to mobilise elders from his Wanga community, which is a Luhya sub-tribe nestled in Mumias and Butere – a community that the late former prime minister often boasted of being the 13th great-grandson of the late Nabongo Mumia – to visit Opoda Farm and pay their respects to the late Raila Odinga, but his fellow MP hijacked it.

He also praised the late leader for his love for the country and for mentoring many, saying that while many leaders like him are radicals, Raila would always put the country’s interests first and set aside his ego when necessary.
