Kakamega Homeboyz striker Allan Wetende Wanga is not thinking of hanging the boots from soccer soon and has vowed to focus and help his club as they embark on a serious campaign to challenge for the Kenya premier league title.

Speaking in Bukhungu shortly after helping his side beat division one club Soy FC 2-0 in an entertaining friendly build-up match on Wednesday, Wanga revealed that he didn’t regret retiring from international football as he wanted to give other young players an opportunity.

“Football is always part of my life, I’m so passionate about it and when the time will be ripe for me to surrender then I will consider other options including coaching or even administrative position, but for now I just can’t stop playing football,” said Wanga.

He added: “I still have energy and the urge to play at the top level and I’m focused on winning the golden boot this season, though team achievement is more important than individual success. We want to challenge for the KPL title and I feel when we beat Leopards in our first match it was a sign of better things to come.”

Meanwhile, Sofapaka midfielder Elly Asieche believes Ulinzi Stars will be a hard nut to crack when the two sides clash in Match Day Two of the local league on Saturday at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

He, however, believes that his side has the ability to pick maximum points from the crunch tie.

“It will not be easy because our fixture against Ulinzi has always been tough. We have trained well for the past two weeks, working on our weak areas and also tried to gel as a team because we have very many new players,” said Asieche.

He added: “Everything has worked well and now we are more cohesive and the unity in the team is coming up very well.”
