Governor Waiguru forced to personally serve MCAs tea at hotel in vote wooing scheme
In a bid to woo residents to support her and help her secure re-election in next year’s general elections as the county boss, Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has today served area MCAs tea at a Mwea Constituency hotel.
According to a video making rounds on social media, Waiguru is seen holding a kettle while serving Kirinyaga county assembly Majority Leader Kamau Murango, Baragwi MCA David Mathenge among other leaders.
Also seen in the video are area residents curious to get served tea by the governor.
This comes a few days after she hinted that she might be decamping from Jubilee to William Ruto’s UDA party ahead of the polls.
Waiguru said that she would listen to the ‘ground’ before making a conclusive decision on which party ticket she will be defending her seat on.
She was speaking during the launch of a 10-day campaign that will see a large number of Mwea residents vaccinated ahead of Mashujaa Day Celebrations.
During the launch of the campaign, Waiguru noted that at least 300 people are dying every week from Covid 19-related complications.
“According to mortuary data, the number of people passing away in Kirinyaga has risen from 100 to 300 people every week,” the governor said.
She has therefore urged residents to visit various health facilities to receive the jab.
She noted that her government has requested at least 100,000 Covid-19 vaccines in preparation to vaccinate a large number of residents, ahead of Mashujaa Day Celebrations which are expected to be held at the newly built Wang’uru Stadium in Mwea Constituency.
“We have already received 10,000 vaccines from the national government and we are requesting you to come up in large numbers to receive the jab so that we can be able to request for the remaining 90,000 jabs,” she said.
