Garissa: Police nab man in possession of 8 balls of bhang following tip-off

The National Police Service has reported the arrest of a man found with several balls of cannabis in the Heller area of Garissa, following a timely intelligence tip that officers say helped stop the drugs from reaching the local community.

The arrest has drawn attention to ongoing efforts by police to curb drug trafficking, where illegal substances continue to find their way into towns despite increased surveillance.

According to the statement posted on X by NPS on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the National Police Service said officers from Garissa Police Station acted swiftly once they received information about the suspect.

“Officers from Garissa Police Station, acting on intelligence, arrested a suspect in the Heller area who had eight balls of cannabis sativa,” the statement reads.

The officers moved in and apprehended the man before he could evade arrest or distribute the drugs.

The person of interest linked to the trafficking was taken to the police station and placed in custody, where he is awaiting further processing and arraignment.

“He was taken to the station and placed in custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court,” the statement reads.

Police also confirmed that the confiscated cannabis had been secured as evidence.

“The drugs have been retained as exhibits at the same station,” the statement reads
