Police intercept vehicle ferrying 100 litres of Chang’aa in Uasin Gishu
Acting on a tip-off from the public, police conducted an operation that stopped a Chang’aa supply run along the busy Emirates–Pipeline Road.
The operation, carried out by officers from Baharini Police Station, unfolded after members of the public raised concerns about suspicious movement in the area.
According to the police statement posted on X by the National Police Service on Saturday, November 23, 2025, officers acted on precise information shared by residents.
They moved swiftly to monitor the road, which is often used as a shortcut by vehicles avoiding major checkpoints. The statement noted that the officers intercepted a vehicle believed to be ferrying illicit brew.”
“Suspects arrested and 100 litres of chang’aa recovered in Turbo, Uasin Gishu county,” the statement read.

The police further explained how the vehicle that was carrying the illicit brew was intercepted. “Acting on a tip-off from the public, officers from Baharini Police Station intercepted a motor vehicle (registration KBK 676P) along the Emirates-Pipeline Road and recovered 100 litres of Chang’aa,” the statement read.
“The occupants of the vehicle were apprehended at the scene and taken into custody as officers took control of the exhibits. The report added that the suspects would undergo processing before they are presented before a court.
“The occupants of the vehicle were arrested and are now in custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court. The exhibits have been securely stored at the police facility,” the statement read.
Police acknowledged the role of the community, saying the successful interception was largely made possible by ordinary residents who raised the alarm. The National Police Service emphasised the importance of public partnership in curbing illegal activities.
“The National Police Service thanks the public for their timely and reliable information, which led to the successful operation and arrests,” the statement read.
The incident once again highlights the ongoing fight against illicit brew networks in the North Rift region, where police rely heavily on community vigilance to disrupt distribution channels.
