Police nab 3, seize 415 litres of illicit brew in Migori
The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed the seizure of 415 litres of illicit brew in an operation conducted on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Awendo, Migori County.
According to the NPS statement released on Monday, November 10, 2025, police officers from Awendo Police Station conducted an intelligence-led operation against illegal brews in the Bongu and Ulunda areas of Awendo Township, where three persons of interest were also apprehended.

”During the operation, the officers arrested three suspects and recovered 15 litres of Chang’aa. They also located and destroyed approximately 400 litres of Kangara. The suspects were placed in custody awaiting processing and arraignment in court,” the NPS statemnt said in part.
At the same time, the National Police Service commended members of the public for their support, further reiterating its commitment to safeguarding public health and safety by combating illegal brews and drugs.

In a similar operation in Kisumu County, police officers in Ahero, Nyando Sub-County, have intensified operations targeting illicit brews as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug and substance abuse in the area.
During an intelligence-led operation in the Kobura area, officers recovered approximately 60 litres of illicit Chang’aa and several rolls of cannabis sativa. A makeshift drinking den and other related materials were also destroyed. One suspect was arrested and is being held in custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court.
Drug dealings in Nyeri
In Nyeri County, while acting on a tip-off on Thursday, November 6, 2025, police officers on night patrol in Witemere and Blue Valley areas apprehended two persons of interest in suspected drug dealings. The duo were found in possession of 35 rolls of cannabis, approximately 500 grams of unrolled cannabis, six packets of rolling papers, three matchboxes containing 10 sachets of heroin, and other items.
Through sustained, intelligence-led operations, strengthened community partnerships, and enhanced patrol strategies, the National Police Service has vowed to disrupt criminal networks and ensure that offenders are held to account. Meanwhile, the NPS has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities promptly to their nearest police station.
