Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has rallied Kenyans in the diaspora to fully back his mission of pushing President William Ruto out of power after one term.

He has made a passionate plea for unity and political action during his address at the Ngemi Cia Ruraya event in Seattle, United States on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Dressed in traditional Kikuyu attire, Gachagua took the podium after Martha Karua and wasted no time in making his message clear.

He began by asking the crowd, “How many are saying Kasongo must go? Ruto must go. One term. Yes. You, Ruto, you—Kasongo must go.”

The crowd, made up of hundreds of Kikuyus living abroad, responded with energy, chanting back the slogan “Ruto must go” in unison, visibly energised by the call.

Gachagua expressed joy at seeing a large turnout of Kenyans abroad, telling them that their presence lifted his spirit.

“There is nothing that brings me joy like seeing my people here. When I see you, my heart beats with excitement,” he said.

He then urged the diaspora community to remain united and to uphold compassion and mutual support.

He insisted that even though they are far from their countries of birth, they must remain united and support one another, as they are all Kenyans who must eventually return home.

“When you hold hands, stay together, and love each other, you form one solid force,” he said, encouraging them to keep standing with him as he challenges the current leadership.

“So, you are with me in pushing this Kasongo? Let us push him completely,” he added, before leading the crowd in a united chant of Harambee.

He assured them that Kenya will find peace and that things will improve, but insisted that this will only happen with proper leadership and strong resolve from both local and diaspora communities.

Gachagua also advised Kenyans abroad to work hard and invest wisely so that when they return home, they can return in dignity.

“Put in effort so that when you go back to Kenya, you return with your pockets in good shape,” he said.

His remarks came shortly after Martha Karua had opened the event with a powerful call for transformation and accountability.

The event, held at Saghalie Middle School in Seattle, brought together hundreds of diaspora Kenyans, particularly from the Kikuyu community.

It featured keynote speeches, traditional music, and performances from artistes such as Samidoh, who had already arrived in Seattle and met both Gachagua and Karua on the second day of their visit.

The day concluded with a Meet and Greet after-party at Lims Lounge Restaurant.
