Gachagua explains proposed economic stabilisation plans if opposition defeats Ruto
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says that vital economic stabilisation plans will take centre stage in the country once President William Ruto has been removed.
Speaking to the diaspora community in the US on Saturday, July 20, 2025, he opined that such crucial engagements will seek to reverse the economic nosedive being witnessed under his tenure.
He acknowledged that the diaspora community remains hesitant to remit money at home, citing cases of mismanagement and bribery being perpetrated by government agencies.
“Today you know how our economy has declined. It is in a nosedive. For us to improve health care and end corruption, we must exit Ruto. It is why we have the “wantam’ movement. Once he is out, we have other programs on how we restore our economy. How do we restore public confidence among investors and attract foreign investors back in the country?” he stated.
His comments come after Ruto hit out at the opposition, citing them for a lack of strategy for the people of Kenya beyond the one-term movement.

Speaking during the 10th Annual Meeting of the Meru Central Cooperative Union in Meru County on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Ruto launched a scathing attack on Gachagua, dismissing the former deputy’s continued government attacks as baseless and lacking developmental substance.
Flanked by his current deputy, Kithure Kindiki, two Cabinet Secretaries, and several Members of Parliament from the region, the Head of State told off his opponents, saying they cannot succeed in intimidating him because his duty is only focused on service delivery and not empty rhetoric.
“I’ve been in politics for years. No one can scare me or intimidate me with noise. These people are just a team of noisemakers, always singing ‘Kasongo’, when they know they failed when they were in power, and they will continue to fail because they have nothing to offer,” Ruto said.
