President William Ruto is set to represent Africa at the upcoming G7 Summit, where he will advocate for increased investment, expanded trade opportunities, and job creation across the continent.

The G7 Summit comes at a time when African nations are seeking greater representation in international forums and increased support for development priorities aimed at fostering investment, trade expansion, and job creation.

The high-level gathering will bring together leaders of the world’s largest economies to discuss pressing global challenges and opportunities.

According to the State House statement on Monday, June 15, 2026, Ruto’s participation cements Africa’s growing role in shaping global economic discussions and advancing sustainable development.

“His attendance at the summit underscores Africa’s pivotal position as a cornerstone during a time of profound geopolitical and economic shifts,” the State House wrote on X.

The summit will focus on critical issues including global economic resilience, international security, energy security, technological innovation, and climate action.

Ruto will use the platform to advance Africa’s development priorities while strengthening partnerships with leading economies.

The Head of State is expected to join discussions alongside leaders from G7 member nations, which include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Other invited leaders from emerging and developing economies are also expected to participate.

Kenya will push for stronger cooperation between Africa and global partners, particularly in areas that can unlock economic growth and employment opportunities.

“The summit will provide an important platform for the President to champion Africa’s call for fairer trade and investment frameworks, advocate access to climate financing, and reaffirm the continent’s role in the future of global economic architecture,” the statement said.

The government noted that Africa remains one of the world’s fastest-growing regions, presenting significant opportunities for investors and international businesses.

Kenya intends to leverage the summit to attract strategic partnerships and mobilise resources for sustainable development.

Ruto is also expected to highlight the need for reforms in global financial systems to ensure developing nations have equitable access to funding for infrastructure, industrialisation, and climate adaptation projects.

State House further revealed that Africa’s priorities at the summit will include enhancing value addition, boosting intra-African trade, accelerating industrial growth, and creating quality jobs for the continent’s rapidly expanding youth population.

“Through his engagement, President Ruto will present a compelling case for deeper economic ties with Africa and advocate for initiatives that drive long-term prosperity and shared growth,” the State House said.

Kenya views the summit as a strategic opportunity to elevate Africa’s voice in global decision-making and strengthen collaboration on issues affecting developing economies.
