Ruto set to jet off to France to attend G7 Summit
President William Ruto is set to depart Kenya for France as he begins a series of high-level international engagements that will culminate in his participation in the G7 Summit, where he is expected to champion Africa’s trade, investment and economic growth agenda.
According to a statement from State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Monday, June 15, 2026, the President’s trip forms part of Kenya’s broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic partnerships with key global economies while advancing Africa’s development priorities on the international stage.
During his visit to France, President Ruto is expected to hold bilateral talks aimed at deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, climate action, infrastructure development and technological innovation. The engagements are also expected to explore opportunities for increased economic collaboration between Kenya and European partners.
Following his engagements in France, the President will proceed to Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada, where he will attend the G7 Leaders’ Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. The summit will bring together leaders from the world’s largest economies to discuss global challenges and opportunities, including economic resilience, international security, energy security and climate change.

State House said Ruto’s participation at the summit reflects Africa’s growing influence in global economic discussions and the continent’s increasing role in shaping solutions to emerging global challenges.
“His attendance at the summit underscores Africa’s pivotal position as a cornerstone during a time of profound geopolitical and economic shifts,” the statement said.
At the summit, President Ruto is expected to advocate for stronger trade and investment partnerships with Africa, emphasising the need for frameworks that support sustainable economic growth, industrialisation and job creation.
He will also push for greater access to climate financing and reforms to global financial systems to ensure developing nations have fair access to resources for development and climate adaptation projects.

Kenya is expected to use the platform to promote Africa as an attractive investment destination and highlight opportunities arising from the continent’s growing markets, youthful workforce and expanding industrial sector.
The government said Africa’s priorities at the summit will include enhancing value addition, boosting intra-African trade, accelerating industrial growth and creating quality jobs for millions of young people across the continent.
Through his engagements in France and at the G7 Summit, President Ruto is expected to reinforce Kenya’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships while advancing Africa’s voice in global decision-making and economic governance.
