Football Kenya Federation (FKF) next executive organ will be made up of new faces after four current National Executive Committee (NEC) members announced that they will not be seeking re-election when the polls are held in December.

The four, Chris Amimo (Nairobi), Mohammed Mulah (North Eastern), Raphael Mwalungu (Coast) and Rift Valley’s David Gikaria who doubles up as Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament, have made the announcement, saying they want to pursue other interests.

This means that five new members will be in the next executive arm of the federation given that the fifth FKF Annual General Meeting (AGM) decided to split Rift Vally into two because of it’s vast size, so the number of NEC members will go up from eight to nine.

“I won’t be in the ballot this time because I feel I have done enough for Nairobi in the last four years. However, I will still be working closely with the federation and help in the development of football wherever I can,” Amimo told People Sport.

In the absence of Amimo, current FKF Nairobi East Branch chairman Michael Ouma has already thrown his hat into the ring and is yet to get an opponent.

“I have been in football administration for long and I thing this is the right time to represent Nairobi at the national level,” Ouma said.

He added: “Nairobi has massive football potential and we want to make good use of this advantage, to make football part of life in this city.”

In Coast, South Coast branch chairman Gabriel Mugendi has already declared his interest to replace out going Mwalungu, while the splitted Rift Valley has a number of entrants after it was split into Upper Rift Valley and Lower Rift Valley.

Upper Rift Valley which covers Turkana, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Samburu and Nandi will see North West Rift Valley Branch chairman Martin Nyongesa battle it out with North Rift Branch chairman David Langat for the Nec position, while Lower Rift Valley that covers Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru, Narok, Baringo, Kajiado and Laikipia, only has South Rift Branch chairman David Bunei as the only candidate to have declared interest for the Nec position.

Central province is bracing itself for a vicious battle after current NEC member David Njoroge announced that he will be defending his position, just for the outspoken Aberdares Branch chairman  David Chege to also enter the race.

In Eastern, Nec representative Muriithi Nabea will also face a battle of his life after former region powerful region official Angeline Elijah who told People Sport yesterday that she was in the race and could not wait to return football development to the region.

“I want to continue with the development of football infrastructure in Eastern province, because everything stalled in the last four years that I was out of administration. I initiated Embu and Kitui Stadia, which all stalled with the current regime. I will revive all these,” she said.

In North Eastern Ahmedqadar Dabar has showed interest to replace Mulah.
