Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Posta Rangers have completed the signing of highly-rated custodian Jairus Adira from AFC Leopards as they prepare to launch a serious title campaign when the local league kicks off next month.

Posta have signed 10 new players while axing 11 at the same time. The dropped players include former Kenyan international Jerry Santo, Joseph Nyaga and John Nairuka.

Adira, who lost his first team position at Ingwe where he fell to third in the perking order, is among nine other players signed by the mail men who are out to avoid another relegation dog fight next season.

Posta survived relegation by a whisker last season after beating Nairobi Stima in a two-leg promotion play-off, having finished 16th on the 18-team log.

The mailmen had also sealed the move of midfield maestro Michael Luvutsi from Bandari and striker Bill George Oporwa from Tusker.

Others who have joined Posta are Nzoia midfielder Jackson Dwang, Wazito midfielder Cain Okeyo, defenders Dicken Mwema and Michael Apondo from Bidco and Sony Sugar respectively, winger Leroy Otieno from Mount Kenya United and Tusker custodian Byrne Omondi. Team manager John Wakhu says the team, which started its pre-season training three weeks ago, is now focusing on the new season with fresh goals.

He says they are moving their camp to Kabarak tomorrow for high altitude training before they travel to Kisii at the weekend where they will feature in the annual Kenya Communications Sports Organisation (KECOSO) games until August 18.

“The games in Kisii will be good for the team because as we chase the Kecoso title, we will at the same time use it to gauge our players and help them gel before the league kicks-off at the end of August,” Wakhu said.
