A family in Naivasha is crying for justice after their kin was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen and burnt with hot water by her husband.

Pauline Wanjiku, 43, who is recuperating at the Naivasha Sub County hospital, says that a week ago, her violent husband came home at night drunk and boiled water and proceeded to the bedroom where the victim was sleeping before stabbing her.

“When he entered the room, I turned and the water caught me on the back before he attacked me with a knife, stabbing me in the stomach and leaving my intestines hanging outside,” she said.

Wanjiku managed to run out of the house, jumping over into a neighbour’s compound where she sought their help and was rushed to the hospital by Good Samaritans.

Reeling in pain from her hospital bed, Wangui painfully narrated how the perpetrator, Stephen Karani a former Administration Police Officer who currently works with the Nakuru County government has severally threatened to harm her, bragging about his connection in the corridors of justice in the country and no action can be taken against him.

“He claims that as a former police officer he has connections and cannot be arrested and we are seeking justice before he attacks another person,” she added.

According to the mother of two, on the fateful day, the perpetrator had been released from police cells after spending three days after he attacked her, an occurence which had become common in the family’s household.

The suspect who is still at large, sought medical help at the same facility under the watch of police officer, but later on went missing under unclear circumstances.

The family which accused security agencies of laxity on how they handled the matter are now leaving in fear as the suspect is yet to be apprehended.

The victim’s mother Regina Njeri, now says she feels unsafe owing to the violent nature of the suspect, calling upon the relevant authorities to ensure that he is brought to book.
