Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called for unity, generosity and national cohesion as Muslims across the country marked Eid-ul-Adha, urging Kenyans to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, charity and peaceful coexistence.

In a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Duale said he joined thousands of fellow Muslim faithful at the Sir Ali Muslim Club grounds in Nairobi for Eid-ul-Adha prayers, describing the occasion as a powerful reminder of faith and devotion.

He noted that Eid-ul-Adha commemorates the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to Allah’s command and symbolises faith, sacrifice and charity, urging Muslims to reflect these values in their daily lives.

Call for generosity and national unity

Duale urged Muslim faithful to extend generosity to the less fortunate and called on all Kenyans to avoid ethnic and religious divisions, especially during moments of national reflection such as Eid celebrations.

“I urged the Muslim faithful to embrace the spirit of Eid by extending generosity to the less fortunate in society, calling on all Kenyans to share in the season of sacrifice without viewing one another through the lenses of tribe or religion,” he said.

He also appealed to leaders across the country to prioritise national unity, warning that cohesion remains central to Kenya’s stability and long-term progress.

Public health alert over Ebola risk

On matters of public health, Duale assured the nation that government agencies remain on high alert at all border points and in high-risk counties to prevent the potential spread of Ebola into the country.

He urged residents, particularly those living along the Kenya–Uganda border, to adhere strictly to Ministry of Health advisories and safety guidelines.

“I urge residents, especially those along the border with Uganda, to treat the cautionary advisories from the Ministry of Health with utmost seriousness and to adhere to all guidelines issued,” he stated.

His remarks come as Kenyan leaders joined Muslim faithful in marking Eid-ul-Adha celebrations across the country, with calls for unity, compassion and service to humanity dominating messages from top government officials.

Other leaders, including Kipchumba Murkomen and Salim Mvurya, also extended Eid Mubarak wishes, urging Kenyans to uphold values of peace, humility and togetherness during the festive period.
