Dry spell expected to continue across Kenya this week
Kenya is set to experience predominantly sunny and dry weather conditions this week, with only a few regions expected to receive occasional rainfall.
According to the latest forecast released on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the Kenya Meteorological Department predicted the nationwide weather outlook that covers Tuesday, January 13, to Monday, January 19, 2026.

Weekly weather outlook
Kenya Met predicted that most parts of the country will enjoy clear skies throughout the week. However, intermittent showers are likely in selected areas, particularly the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley region itself, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal strip, and the South-eastern lowlands.
Temperatures are expected to rise significantly in several regions, with daytime highs surpassing 30 degrees Celsius in the Coast, North-Eastern and North-western Kenya. Similar hot conditions are also anticipated in parts of the South-Eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley and sections of Western Kenya, raising the risk of heat discomfort during peak afternoon hours.

In contrast, residents in high-altitude areas should prepare for chilly nights. Minimum temperatures are forecast to drop below 10 degrees Celsius in parts of the Central Highlands, the North and Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas surrounding Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Monthly weather outlook
Generally, in their initial January 2026 weather outlook, the Kenya Meteorological Department had announced on Thursday, January 8, 2026, that most parts of the country are expected to experience mainly sunny and dry conditions during the month.

However, occasional rainfall is likely in a few areas, including western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Southern Rift Valley, parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County), the South-Eastern lowlands, and southern coastal areas.
