Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo has called for better use of the digital platforms.
The PS made the comment when he attended an engagement with regulators, practitioners, and experts in Kenya’s AI ecosystem at the Africa AI Convening organized by the Office of the Special Envoy on Technology Philip Thigo.
Omollo’s call comes at a time when some leaders have criticized how citizens, especially the youth, have used digital platforms.
“Kenya is at the forefront of Africa’s technology revolution, and we recognize that while digital platforms create opportunities, they must also be used responsibly,” Omollo said as per a statement shared by the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
The PS also commented on matters of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how useful it is in the modern world.
“In an age of widespread misinformation, disinformation, and manipulated media, it is fundamental to ensure that Artificial Intelligence (AI) development and deployment in the country are safe, secure, and trustworthy,” he added.
Kabogo’s assurance
PS Omollo’s call comes a day after Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy William Kabogo committed that he will ensure the promise of internet connectivity across the country is achieved.
“I encouraged the students to explore and utilize the vast opportunities available in the digital space, which are crucial for driving innovation and creating sustainable livelihoods.

“As a ministry, we are committed to enhancing internet connectivity across the country to support the Digital Superhighway pillar of the BETA agenda. Together, we can unlock Kenya’s full potential in the digital economy and ensure no one is left behind,” Kabogo said when he conducted a familiarization tour of two Jitume Digital Hubs at Rift Valley Technical Training Institute and Eldoret National Polytechnic.
