Detectives in Kisumu nab 2 persons of interest linked to burglary cases
Police officers in Kisumu Central Sub-County have apprehended two persons of interest believed to be responsible for a series of break-ins in the Milimani area.
According to the National Police Service statement released on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the two were nabbed after officers on patrol intercepted them as they were loading what are believed to be stolen household items into a vehicle.
End of road!
”The duo attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended. A variety of stolen items were recovered at the scene, including a 65-inch television, household electronics, gym equipment, a CCTV camera, a cool box, a power supply unit, a solar panel, a projector, and personal effects,” the NPS statement said in part.
The Police Service said further investigations linked the suspects to an earlier burglary at the same premises, from which additional items, including laptops, a gas cylinder, various dumbbell weights, and a Hasa safe, had been stolen. The damaged safe was later found abandoned in the Islamia Cemetery on Airport Road.
The two men were taken into custody at Kisumu Central Police Station pending their arraignment in court. The NPS has also confirmed that the vehicle used in the incident has been impounded to aid the ongoing investigation.

Livestock theft in Butere
In a separate theft incident, officers from Yala Police Station, on a routine mobile patrol along the Butere-Ulumbi road, intercepted a suspicious Toyota Caldina, which was carrying three suspected stolen cows following a pre-dawn chase.
According to the NPS statement released on Monday, November 24, 2025, the four occupants fled on foot, abandoning the vehicle. Upon a further search, a kitchen knife and a mobile phone were recovered.
The vehicle was impounded at the station to await further processing, while the other exhibits were secured. A team of officers is following crucial leads to trace and apprehend the culprits so they can face the necessary charges.
Meanwhile, the National Police Service commends the officers involved for their swift action and reaffirms its commitment to combating burglary and related offences.
