DCI nab foreign national and seize sachets of bhang in Nairobi raid
Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), working jointly with officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), have arrested a 29-year-old Nigerian national in a drug trafficking crackdown that led to the recovery of narcotics and travel documents suspected to be linked to illicit activity.
Taking it to their social media handles on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, the DCI confirmed that the person of interest was arrested after intelligence-gathering activities, which connected him to a narcotics-trafficking syndicate in Nairobi. The officers, acting on the information, raided his house in the Kabarnet area on Ngong Road, and a coordinated search was conducted.
“Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), alongside their counterparts from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), have arrested a trafficker recovering sachets of cannabis sativa from his house,” the DCI statement read in part.

Following the raid, detectives confirmed the recovery of thirty-three packets ofc annabis sativa that were neatly packed and were reported to be ready for distribution during the raid. The person of interest’s identity was also found on two passports, as well as other items that are under investigation.
“A thorough search of the house led to the recovery of 33 sachets of Cannabis sativa, neatly packed and ready for distribution. Detectives also recovered two passports bearing the suspect’s name, alongside other items,” the statement added.
Foreign national in Kenya illegally
The person of interest, according to the DCI, is believed to be living in the country illegally, and so the investigation into his activities and affiliation with an organised drug trafficking syndicate is complicated further.

“Preliminary investigations have further revealed that the suspect is in the country illegally. The suspect was escorted to Muthaiga Police Station for processing pending arraignment. Meanwhile, the recovered drugs have been detained as exhibits,” the DCI statement further read.
The detectives have further confirmed that the person of interest was rushed to Muthaiga Police Station, where he is being processed before being arraigned. The recovered narcotics have been preserved and locked up as evidence.
