CS Keter resigns from government, to contest for Kericho governor’s seat on UDA ticket
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter has on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 tendered his resignation to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Apart from the shift of focus to his Kericho gubernatorial bid and compliance with the Elections Act, Keter stated that his resignation was also in compliance with a circular released earlier this month by the Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, asking State Officers and Public Officers going for elective posts to vacate office on or before February 8.
While speaking at a presser, the ex-Kericho senator thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for according him an opportunity to serve in his cabinet.
“I wish to sincerely thank His Excellency the President for according me the opportunity to serve in his cabinet since 2015 when he nominated me to join his government. With a lot of humility, I want to reiterate my appreciation to the President for the honour bestowed on me,” he said.
Keter outlined some of the milestones he achieved while at the helm of the two cabinet positions he held. The UDA aspirant served as CS for Energy and Petroleum before he was reappointed as CS for Devolution. His exit is a first of many as more cabinet secretaries and state officers are also expected to vacate office today.
