A conservationist seeks to plant more than 10,000 tree seedlings across 11 counties in a campaign seeking to create awareness on the plight of elephants.
Justus Nyamu of the Elephant Neighbours’ Centre, a Non-Governmental Organisation, said his mission seeks to reclaim the lost forest cover by using elephants as a key point for conservation of other endemic species in our forests.
Speaking in Bomet yesterday, Nyamu noted that Kenyans must be sensitised about elephant conservation, saying the animals are under pressure and declining from habitat loss.
“When we lose elephants we have lost other species. That is why we must incorporate communities in the conservation process,” he said.
