Cherargei says Kalonzo’s remarks on General Ogolla are reckless, urges DCI action
By Cy Muganda, December 22, 2025Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to take action against Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka over what he termed reckless statements about the death of former Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.
In a statement posted on his X account on Monday, December 22, 2025, Cherargei accused Kalonzo of dragging the Kenya Defence Forces into cheap politics and insulting grieving families with unsubstantiated claims.
“Kalonzo has become inherently desperate that he wants to drag the Kenya Defence Forces into cheap politics of popularity contest and an insult to the grieving families,” Cherargei wrote.
DCI action demanded
The senator urged the DCI to intervene, arguing that Kalonzo should be held accountable for his remarks, noting that the KDF had already tabled a comprehensive report detailing the circumstances surrounding General Ogolla’s death, including its causes and recommendations going forward.
“For the umpteen time, can the Director of criminal investigations (DCI) ensure he records a statement on this matter and be held accountable on this reckless statements that are meant to incite public curiosity through misinformation and disinformation,” the senator said.

“The KDF tabled the report that was comprehensive and addressed the causes and way forward,” he added.
He further suggested that instead of making what he termed inflammatory statements, Kalonzo should focus on constructive advocacy and use his political influence to push for increased funding to modernise military and police aircraft.
“To use his energy very well, Kalonzo should be advocating in Parliament to allocate more funds to KDF and police aircraft to be modernised because most of them are flying death traps!!” Cherargei stated.
Kalonzo’s remarks
Cherargei’s remarks come a day after Kalonzo publicly questioned the circumstances under which General Ogolla was travelling at the time of his death.
“I maintain that General Ogolla was taken out. How do you fly the Commander of KDF in an 80-year-old aircraft to go and inspect a primary school which was under construction in a bandit-infested area?” Kalonzo said during a television interview on December 21, 2025.
