Caleb Amisi endorses Khalwale’s gubernatorial bid
Caleb Amisi has endorsed Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale for the gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
While accompanying him in Matungu during his campaign on Sunday, August 31, 2025, Amisi expressed confidence in Khalwale’s leadership, stating that he is a bold politician who is never afraid to speak the truth to power. He urged the people of Kakamega to support Khalwale, describing him as the kind of leader the county needs—one who stands firm even when the government is on the wrong path.
“I might not be a voter in Kakamega, lakini Mimi mtu anayesimama na kuangalia Ruto kwa macho na amwambie ukweli niko na yeye, na huyo mtu kulingana na mimi ni Boni Khalwale,” Amisi stated
Amisi dismissed leaders he termed as timid, insisting that Kakamega deserves someone courageous enough to challenge the system when necessary. According to him, Khalwale has demonstrated this quality during his time in the Senate and has proven to be a leader who can be trusted.
“Mimi sitaki muanzw kepea watu uongozi ambao ni waoga; huyu Boni Khalwale amekuwa kwa senate, but when the government goes wrong, he stands up and tells the government that is wrong. That is the kind of leader we want; people of Kakamega should support Boni Khalwale,” Amisi added.
Khalwale’s bid
Kakamega Senator and 2027 gubernatorial hopeful Boni Khalwale, on Monday, July 14, 2025, unveiled a political party dubbed the United Patriotic Movement (UPM), which he intends to use as his political vehicle in the upcoming election.

“Leaders of that party are university students; the party is called the United Patriotic Movement (UPM),” Khalwale said.
Addressing his supporters at his home in Malinya, Khalwale introduced UPM as a youth-driven party managed by university students, with organised teams spread across the country.
This was after he made it clear that he won’t use UDA in his quest for the top seat since, according to him, the president had already endorsed Fernandez Barasa.
